Quietude

What a year this was!
How tumultuous!
How uproarious!
How, even so, so placid!
How, be all that it was, so unruffled!
Oh so unwarlike!
Oh so irenic!
Oh the endless chagrin;
Oh the unceasing silence;
Oh dear heavens, the unbounded hubbub;
Oh nights in agony of doubts and stock-still walls.
To all souls that cherish peace of minds and guards of hearts;
Quietude to you, come hell;
Quietude to you, come high water.
